The San Francisco Giants are hungry for a sweep of the Houston Astros, handing the ball to Ryan Vogelsong on Thursday to try and get the job done.
Vogelsong (11-7, 2.90 ERA) has been struggling relative to his form earlier this year, though he got back on track with a victory in his last start. He allowed three runs on four hits (three of them home runs) with five strikeouts over 6 1-3 innings of work on Friday. He hasn't faced Houston yet this year, but he is 0-2 with a 3.14 ERA in his last two starts against them.
Houston will counter with Jordan Lyles (3-10, 5.47 ERA), who was 0-6 with a 6.79 ERA in his last nine starts until earning a victory against the Mets after allowing just one run on three hits Friday. Lyles has never won two starts in a row in his pro career.
First pitch is set for 5:05 p.m. PT with coverage on CSN Bay Area and KNBR 680 AM.
