Second round action in the 2012 U.S. Open kicks into high gear on Thursday, with plenty of high-profile matchups going on throughout the day and into the night.
Early in the day (in the morning Pacific slots), you'll have fifth-seeded Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and sixth-seeded Tomas Berdych kicking off action on the West Coast. Tsonga will be taking on Martin Klizan, and Berdych faces Jurgen Zopp. After those two matches will come 23rd ranked Mardy Fish taking on Nikolay Davydenko.
The highlight of the early primetime session will be Roger Federer taking on Bjorn Phau to try and get to the third round unscathed.
On the women's side of the draw, it's the Williams sisters that will probably draw the most attention. Serena will be facing off with Maria Jose Martinez Sanchez on Thursday. Sister Venus will have an uphill battle when she takes on sixth-seeded Angelique Kerber. Second-ranked Agnieszka Radwanska will be another prominent name on the women's tennis side.
Live tennis action begins on the Tennis Channel at 8 a.m. PT, and the main matches at Flushing Meadows start up on ESPN2 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. PT. Matches can also be streamed live online at the U.S. Open official site.
