The San Francisco Giants were hoping to keep their lead in the NL West at three games heading into Wednesday night's contest with the Houston Astros, and thanks to some timely hitting by the Black and Orange, they came away with another victory by the score of 6-4.
Although skipper Bruce Bochy had the chain on Barry Zito very tight this evening, the bullpen was solid after the former Cy Young winner departed after just 2.1 innings of work, prompting Bochy to use six different relievers to get the job done.
Hunter Pence sent a 3-run blast into the atmosphere as part of a four run first inning for San Francisco, though they didn't score again off Dallas Kuechel until the sixth when an error by Scott Moore opened the door for two more runs for the Giants off a Joaquin Arias Triple.
San Francisco goes for the road sweep on Thursday as Ryan Vogelsong takes on Jordan Lyles in the finale at Minue Maid Park. First pitch is set for 5:05 p.m. PT with coverage on CSN Bay Area and KNBR 680 AM.
