Toby Gerhart And Adrian Peterson's Sports Car: An Anecdote

Former Stanford Cardinal standout Toby Gerhart has been carving out his own niche with the Minnesota Vikings as they deal with the injury to Adrian Peterson, though he has built a great rapport with #28.

Gerhart joined Chris & Ben on XTRA Sports Radio in San Diego to talk about how Peterson is healing from knee surgery, but also to tell a story about using one of AP's sports cars during his first glimpse of Minnesota snow, and the inevitable fun that ensued.

Make the jump to see for yourself.

Toby, a Southern California native, hadn't had much run in with snow growing up, so imagine how he felt when this happened:

On getting stuck in the snow with Adrian Peterson's car his first winter in Minnesota:

"I didn't have a car up here just yet and so I was borrowing one of Adrian's cars. It was this little sports car. And I didn't even realize it snowed until I opened the garage, and I was like, ‘Oh no, I'm in trouble.' I decided I didn't want to drive. I tried to call a couple guys - nobody answered. And I was a rookie, I was scared to be late to meetings so I was like, ‘All right, I gotta just try to go for it.' And I was slipping and sliding the whole way and couldn't make it up the last little hill into the facility."

I like to picture the entire team and staff of the Vikings coming outside in the snow to watch Gerhart's fruitless efforts to make it into the parking lot. I hope Toby has got himself a vehicle with 4-wheel drive by now.

But you know you are in with AP when he does something like this:

On how many cars Adrian Peterson owns:

"I have no idea. I just remember asking, ‘Do you have any extra cars?' And he was like, ‘Yeah, I got a few over here, I can bring one for you.'"

A true teammate that Petterson is.

As for on the field, Gerhart labels AP fittingly as a physical freak which includes his quick convalescent abilities:

On Adrian Peterson's fast recovery from knee surgery:

"He truly is a freak, physically, in terms of how quick and strong he is. And that's just how fast he recovered. And he's out there running around, looks great. And he has his mind set on making it back for Game 1."

Gerhart and Petterson is a doozy of a RB combination, one that few defenses around the league will look forward to playing.
