The San Francisco 49ers fell 20-9 in their second preseason game on Saturday night to the Houston Texans at Reliant Stadium in Houston. But the bigger loss might be running back Brandon Jacobs, who hurt his left knee.
After his first carry of the game for eight yards, Jacobs injured his knee and needed help getting off the field. He was unable to put any weight on his leg while on the sidelines. X-rays are negative for Jacobs; however, he will have an MRI on Sunday as a precaution. San Francisco head coach Jim Harbaugh confirmed the running back's injury and that he will miss time. According to Harbaugh, the injury is not considered to be season-ending.
Rookie running back LaMichael James also suffered an injury, twisting his left ankle in the fourth quarter. But the running back vowed not to miss any practice time.
The 49ers welcomed back once-retired wide receiver Randy Moss, who had three catches tonight for 24 yards.
Texans quarterback Matt Schaub went 11-for-14 with 129 yards and one touchdown. Another player affected by injuries last season was star running back Arian Foster. Like his teammate Schaub, he looks to be back in form with 10 carries for 47 yards.
