San Francisco 49ers Training Camp Update: Alex Smith Finishes Camp Strong

Alex Smith finished his final day of training camp strong on Thursday. The San Francisco 49ers quarterback completed 14 of 15 passes in drills according to CSN Bay Area's Matt Maiocco.

49ers fans are hoping he can keep up his laser accuracy in the regular season.

Smith is obviously the key to the 49ers' success on offense and any improvement he brings upon 2011's campaign will make 49ers' fans happy. Rookie LaMichael James and newcomers Mario Manningham and veteran Randy Moss combined with a year of experience under head coach Jim Harbaugh could potentially lead to more success for Smith.

49ers left tackle Joe Staley emphasized the effect of having playmakers on the team's potential offensive output:

"The passing game went through Vernon and Crabtree. The running game was Frank [Gore] and Kendall [Hunter]. We've added a lot of talent. The more weapons you have, the more versatile you can be. Our coaches are very creative." (Via: ESPN.com)

One point is clear at the end of training camp: Smith has more weapons. Now that he has more weapons, it's his opportunity to take advantage of them. If he doesn't eclipse his 2011 campaign this season, fans will consider it a massive step back.
