Brad Penny took an absolute shellacking last night in the San Francisco Giants 14-2 loss to the Nationals. The beating was so severe that Penny was sent to the DL with shoulder soreness today.
Penny pitched two innings and gave up six runs to raise his ERA to a slightly substandard 6.86 on the year. Granted, the game was already out of hand after Ryan Vogelsong got battered around for eight runs in 2.2 innings.

#SFGiants placed Brad Penny on 15-day disabled list, and recall reliever Dan Otero cmcst.sn/aaa87M#MLB
The Giants called up Dan Otero from AAA Fresno for his second stint with the big-league club this year. Otero appeared in seven games in April and was actually pretty good if you take out his April 24, implosion against the Cincinnati Reds when he gave up six runs in 1.2 innings. Otero has a 8.64 ERA on the year.
