UFC 150 had plenty of knockouts to choose from for the Knockout of the Night bonus. Ultimately, the most spectacular and demonstrative knockout took home the $60,000 bonus and also garnered Fight of the Night honors, in something of a shock.
After the Pay-Per-View in Denver wrapped up, Dana White announced who would be getting the night's bonuses in a post-event press conference. Donald Cerrone picked up Knockout of the Night for his brutal headkick and right hand combo that knocked Melvin Guillard cold in the first round. Surprisingly, Cerrone and Guillard won Fight of the Night honors, despite their match going less than two minutes.
The main event, a lightweight title rematch between Ben Henderson and Frankie Edgar, was a five-round affair that was one of the closer fights in a long while. The crowd vehemently disagreed with Henderson retaining via split decision, but it was the most evenly-matched fight of the evening, was a high-profile match and was far from boring. While the decision may have been controversial, it was pretty much exactly in the mold of the fights that usually garner the highest honor of the evening.
Still, the Guillard-Cerrone match winning Fight of the Night was the right call. It will be a fight that will likely be remembered for some time. Guillard came out swinging, completely rocking Cerrone with huge punches and having him an inch from going out. Somehow, Guillard backed off and Cerrone stormed back, catching a glancing head kick on Guillard that left him dazed and flooring him with a big right. It was one of the more exciting sub-two minute fights you're likely to see and it was definitely the highlight of the evening.
The Submission of the Night bonus was mostly a formality, as Dennis Bermudez's standing choke was the only submission of the night.
