UFC 150 Henderson Vs. Edgar II Results: Jake Shields Defeats Ed Herman Via Unanimous Decision

San Francisco's Jake Shields competed on the main card of UFC 150 on Saturday night. Shields has been trying to work his was up to title contention after back-to-back losses and was looking for his second straight win in his middleweight debut against Ed Herman.

The two men had a very evenly matched first round. Shields was able to gain top control but Herman survived it and gained confidence, while Shields looked a bit winded after the round ended.

In the second round, Shields got top control once again and was able to hold Herman down and control the pace. Shields attempted a kimura early but was unable to cinch it in. Shields had landed more blows at this point and had definitely pressed the attack in the fight. The boo birds in the crowd came out after a low-impact round, but Shields was clearly in the lead at that point. Herman looked exhausted after the round.

Herman tried to keep the fight upright in the third round and scored a takedown, but Shields had him back to the ground again in short order, once again controlling the top position for the remainder of the fight. Herman worked from the bottom late, but time ran out to the sound of rousing boos from the crowd.

Inevitably, the judges came back with a unanimous decision victory for Shields, 29-28, 30-27, 30-27.

Still to come at UFC 150 is the big Lightweight Championship rematch between Ben Henderson and Frankie Edgar.
