The San Francisco 49ers will begin their quest for a Super Bowl title on Friday night as they play their first preseason game of the year. Their opponents are the Minnesota Vikings, who feature a young quarterback in Christian Ponder and one of the best defensive ends in the game with Jared Allen.
It is still very early in training camp and all of the 49ers starters are expected to only play a series or two. No reason to risk injuring players with the regular season still weeks away.
