Tour de France 2012, Stage 8: TV Coverage, Route And More

Stage 8 of the 2012 Tour de France takes place Sunday morning, and the 157.5km run from Belfort to Porrentruy is a rolling stage with seven categorized climbs. It starts with a Category 4 climb just 20km into the stage, has a Cat 3 soon after, then runs through four Cat 2 climbs before finishing with a short, steep Category 1 run up Col de la Croix just 16km from the finish.

That's the kind of stage that favors a daring breakaway, and no doubt many of the tour's younger riders have Stage 8 circled on their maps. The French riders in the Tour also thrive on days like Sunday, when they can make an all-out effort in front of the home fans and receive cheers for their courage, though not often the stage win.
