2012 Olympics Swimming: Team USA Loses To France In Men's 4x100

Team USA Swimming won one of the more memorable races in Olympics history back in 2008 as Michael Phelps was part of a late comeback in the men's 4x100 freestyle. With all eyes on the US this afternoon, they ended up losing late to France.

California Golden Bears alum Nathan Adrian helped get the United States out to a lead of about half a second. Michael Phelps also swam well, recovering nicely from his poor showing at the 400m IM on Saturday. Ryan Lochte served as the anchor for the team, and he was handed a solid lead as he dove in for the final 100 meters.

Lochte appeared to run out of energy late, being overtaken by the French team in the closing meters. It was a disappointing silver medal for Team USA, but a strong showing nonetheless.

The race will be shown on tape-delay later this evening on NBC.
