2012 Olympics Results: Team USA Defeats Colombia 3-0, Megan Rapinoe Scores

Team USA Soccer got off to a very strong start on Saturday, defeating Colombia by a score of 3-0 to remain undefeated in Olympic play. The game got a bit chippy at times, with US forward Abby Wambach even taking a sucker punch to the face midway through the match.

Despite Colombia's unsportsmanlike effort, Wambach, Alex Morgan, Megan Rapinoe and goalie Hope Solo had very few problems containing the undersized opposition.

Rapinoe, who is from the Sacramento area, scored the first goal of the match for Team USA just 33 minutes in. Colombia's defense managed to hold off numerous scoring attacks from the US, but their back line finally gave in late in the match. Wambach scored a goal at the 74 minute mark, and she was followed by Carli Lloyd just three minutes later to seal the deal.

Solo was seldom tested on Saturday afternoon. The Colombian team got only two shots on goal, with most of their chances sailing wide left or right.
