USA Field Hockey: Michelle Kasold Finally Gets Her Shot At The Olympics

Michelle Kasold is a veteran of the US National team even though this will be her first time playing in the Olympics, after narrowly missing out on being on the team that went to Beijing.

The 25-year-old striker has been involved with the US National team since 2006 and after graduating from Wake Forest in 2009, Kasold is now one of three Wake Forest alums on the Olympic team.

The US National Team is in Group B with Argentina, Australia, Germany, New Zealand and South Africa. The qualifying round is from July 29 to Aug. 6.

Kasold is riding some momentum as she was a part of the Pan-American team that made history after winning the Pan-Am title in Guadalajara, Mexico. Prior to that, Kasold was a three-time NFHCA first team All-American at Wake Forest and joined the women's national team after her freshman season. She currently plays for the Tar Devils field hockey club.

The San Jose native started playing field hockey in 1998.
