Stanford RB Tyler Gaffney Leaving Program

Junior Tyler Gaffney may have been the back-up RB last year, but he was a key part in Stanford's backfield success, rushing 449 yards on an average of 6.1 yards per carry. He also hit jackpot with seven touchdowns. As a receiver he caught 12 passes for 79 yards and a score.

Gaffney also plays left field for the Cardinal baseball team and displays a fair amount of athleticism there, enough to perk the interest of the Pittsburg Pirates who drafted in the 24th round of the first year player draft in June.

Because Gaffney signed a professional baseball contract, he loses his eligibility on his remaining year of NCAA sports. Gaffney has said he will return to school to complete his degree in Sociology though.
