The Open Championship 2012, First Round Scores: Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy, Bubba Watson In The Hunt

The wet weather that stayed away for the morning group found it's way onto Royal Lytham & St. Annes during the first round of the 2012 Open Championship, causing some issues with the later groups in the day. The course began to play more like links golf later on, leaving Adam Scott atop the leaderboard though a number of big names remain very close, including Tiger Woods.

Scott's 6-under 64 could not be beat, though Zach Johnson, Scotsman Paul Lawrie and German Nicolas Colsaerts all carded 5-under 65's to place themselves well in contention. Brandt Snedeker is the lone man at 4-under after a bogey-free 66, while Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy, Bubba Watson, Graeme McDowell, Ernie Els, Steve Stricker, and two others fired opening round 67's to sit at 3-under.

Some notable players struggled in round one, including Sergio Garcia's 2-over 72, while Phil Mickelson and Lee Westwood each fired a 3-over 73.

With all these big names around the top of the leaderboard, it should set up for quite the weekend at Royal Lytham.

Full leaderboard can be found here.
