Earthquakes Forward Chris Wondolowski Named MLS Player Of The Week

As reported by Nick Burton for CSN Bay Area, San Jose Earthquakes forward Chris Wondolowski was named MLS Player of the Week for his hat trick in the Earthquakes' dominant 5-0 win over Real Salt Lake on Saturday. For good measure, Wondolowski also had an assist.

This marks the fourth time in Wondolowski's career that he was named player of the week and the second time this season he has earned the distinction. Both awards come during a season that could turn into a record-breaking one for him within MLS.

Wondolowski currently sits at 17 goals through 20 games, which puts him on pace for 29 for the season. If he were to reach 29, it would set a new single-season record by surpassing the old mark of 27.

Wondolowski also won MLS Player of the Month honors for the June when he put in three goals over the course of three games.
