Giants Minor League Affiliate Update

The Giants’ minor league seasons continue with Fresno still going strong with excellent pitching, but San Jose has dropped eight consecutive games to fall into second place. Gary Brown, Francisco Peguero, and Garrett Buechele had big days on Sunday.

AAA: Fresno remains in first place by 2.5 games after defeating Salt Lake 3-2 on Sunday night. Eric Hacker pitched seven strong innings, allowing only four hits and striking out three. He now has nine wins in only eleven starts. Francisco Peguero hit a home run while reaching base four times, marking a bright spot in what has otherwise been a very disappointing season for him. Conor Gillaspie also homered for the Grizzlies, whose record stands at 37-20.

AA: Richmond fell to Erie 5-1 Sunday night to drop their record to 26-31, fourth place in their division. The only Flying Squirrel run was scored by Gary Brown, who led off the bottom of the first inning with a home run. Justin Fitzgeral allowed all five runs in 6.1 innings.

A+: San Jose lost to Stockton 10-6 Sunday night, and now they are a half game back of the Sacramento River Cats in their division. Even the presence of the rehabbing Pablo Sandoval was not enough for the Giants, as he homered and doubled in five plate appearances. Jarrett Parker also hit a home run in the game.

A: Augusta was defeated by Asheville 9-8 on Sunday, despite the career-best efforts of Garrett Buechele, who hit a grand slam and recorded seven RBI. Joe Staley also homered for the Greenjackets, who drop to 22-33, sixth place in their division.
