2012 NBA Draft: Damian Lillard Could Be Portland Trail Blazers Pick

Damian Lillard has been the guy a lot of people have been buzzing about for most of this build-up to the 2012 NBA Draft. Lillard has begun to emerge as a potential lottery selection as teams keep on looking for the right player to take with their pick.

The Portland Trail Blazers might have identified the Weber State point guard as their new selection. Chad Ford has more on the logic behind the decision he expects will occur if Andre Drummond isn't available for them with the sixth overall pick.

Analysis: If Drummond falls here, I think they take him. But if he doesn't, I'm hearing Lillard could be the man. He wowed at the draft combine and measured very similar in size and athletic ability to Derrick Rose.

While Lillard isn't nearly the same prospect as Rose, the Blazers need a point guard and Lillard has the potential to be very, very good. Taking him at No. 6 is no longer a reach. Harrison Barnes and Jeremy Lamb would also be in the mix here.

Lillard and the Blazers could be a real good fit. Portland is coming off a disastrous season with Raymond Felton and Jonny Flynn at the point and they need a new leader at that position. Lillard is the best point guard available in this draft and could be the selection.
