New York Knicks point guard Jeremy Lin is going to receive a lot of attention this offseason because of his contract situation. Lin is a restricted free agent and figures to be pursued by multiple teams trying to make an offseason splash.
The Knicks figure to be willing to do whatever they can to ensure Linsanity sticks with them for another season. Their ability to keep him might very well depend on whether they can win him his Bird rights. Apparently it's not looking all that good for him.
Was told by a source familiar w/ the Early Bird Rights hearing that the players' union (meaning the #Knicks as well) will NOT win the case.

The Knicks will then be limited to using their $5 million mid-level exception to try and bring Lin back. That's probably enough to bring him back, but it could mean the Knicks might have to lose Steve Novak this offseason. Still, you figured it'd be tough to keep everyone after the amount of money they spent bringing in every free agent.
Talk about how Lin not receiving his Bird rights will hurt the Knicks by hitting up Posting and Toasting.
