There appears to be no end to the misery for Bay Area NASCAR drivers Jeff Gordon and AJ Allmendinger. In Sunday's Pocono 400, both men finished well below where they had hoped to place. Joey Logano took the checkered flag as the 2012 Sprint Cup Series officially entered its second half. It was Logano's second career win and his first since 2009.
Gordon finished in 19th place and lost 90 points in the Sprint Cup standings. He now sits at No. 22 on the leaderboard. Allmendinger finished in 31st place and lost a relative 121 points in the standings. Allmendinger is now at No. 25 overall.
There is still a lot of season left, but Gordon and Allmendinger will find themselves running out of time in fairly short order.
