UFC 146 Dos Santos Vs. Mir Fight Preview: Kyle Kingsbury Vs. Glover Teixeira

The card for UFC 146 in Las Vegas on Saturday, May 26 is loaded, top to bottom, with plenty of Bay Area fighters. One of the preliminary fights features a Bay Area native who will be looking to rebound from a decision loss to Stephan Bonnar.

Kyle Kingsbury will take on Glover Teixeira in what will likely be the second fight of the evening, in a light heavyweight bout that will air via Facebook. Kingsbury is a Sunnyvale native who fights out of American Kickboxing Academy in San Jose.

This will be Kingsbury's seventh fight in the UFC, not counting fights as a part of The Ultimate Fighter television show. Kingsbury is 4-2 in the UFC and holds an overall mixed martial arts record of 11-3-1. He has twice won Fight of the Night honors in the promotion.

Teixeira, a Brazilian native who fights out of San Luis Obispo, has fought in the WEC four times but will be making his UFC debut. Teixeira is 17-2 and has not lost a fight since March of 2005.

This is probably a good matchup for both competitors, as Kingsbury could try to work his way back to light heavyweight title consideration, while Teixeira could become a contender in short order if he comes into the UFC with guns blazing.
