The Players Championship 2012, Leaderboard Update: Ian Poulter Fires -7 To Take Lead, Tiger Woods Falters

The TPC Sawgrass was in prime scoring condition this morning, and many players with early tee times tok advantage of that fact, firing impressivly low scores at the always difficult 2012 Players Championship.

Englishman Ian Poulter was sizzling out on the course this morning, charging ahead after his first round after firing eight birdies on the day including three in a row to begin the back nine. He would bogey the par 4 seventh, his lone blemish on his scorecard, taking the lead at 7-under. Blake Adams sits right behind him at 6-under, while Kevin Na and Ben Crane both fired 5-under 67's. Currently 14 players sit within four shots of the lead.

As for Tiger Woods simply couldn't get any momentum from the get-go, going bogey-birdie-bogey to start his round, followed by bogies on 10, 15, and 18. He did manage to birdie par-3's 13 and 17, but couldn't keep from the bogey train this morning.
