St. Mary's Rob Jones Turns Down Invite To Minnesota Vikings Camp

St. Mary's Rob Jones averaged 15 points and 10.8 rebounds for the Gaels as an undersized, 6-foot-6 power forward his senior season. Though productive, his size doesn't correlate to the NBA and he isn't on ESPN's Top 100 big board. Basketball doesn't seem like his next step.

But what about football?

Apparently, the Minnesota Vikings offered for Jones to join them in camp but Jones declined. With all of the success that undersized power forwards have had transitioning to play football, the Vikings thought they'd give it a shot even though Jones hasn't played football since high school.

Jones still wants to see where basketball takes him.

"I wanted to see where I can go with basketball first," said Jones, 23. "Two or three years from now, if I'm not where I want to be with basketball, I can still have that option.

"Football is intriguing, but it's really a decision I made five years ago."
