Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson and Rory McIlroy entered the first round of the 2012 Masters in Augusta on Thursday as the favorites to take home the green jacket, but all three players had their share of struggles. Only McIlroy, who double-bogeyed the very first hole of the tournament, was able to fight back and finish under par. McIlroy's 1-under must look great to Woods and Mickelson. Woods bogeyed his final two holes to finish at par, while Mickelson looked out of sorts all day and finished 2-over.
Tom Watson, Nick Watney and Kevin Chappell are the golfers with Bay Area ties who are still in the thick of things. They, along with the rest of the field, will be right back in action on Friday in the second round.
