The Masters 2012: TV Times, Online Streaming Coverage Of Par-3 Contest

Wednesday at the Masters brings us one of the favorite traditions of the tournament, the always fun Par-3 Contest. Players get the chance to bring out the family, walk the course and play nine holes with golfing legends, and of course, ensure that they don't win the darn thing.

There has never been a Par-3 Contest winner to go on and win the Masters itself, so there are lots of balls dropped in the water, or skipped across the water, or putts left un-putted; any way to ensure a non-victory. Sure, someone eventually wins, but it's really about letting loose a bit before the intensity of four days of Augusta National.

Here are some other fun facts about the contest you might not have known:

  • There have been 73 holes-in-one in the Contest's history, including an astounding five in 2002.
  • The course record of 20 is shared by Art Wall (1965) and Gay Brewer (1973).
  • There have been 18 sudden-death playoffs.
