Is this the end for ATP tennis in the Bay Area? It appears the only tournament that is still played in the region is moving out to new environs.

The SAP Open has been played in the region since 1889, when it was played in Monterey, then spent a decade in San Rafael before being moved up to Berkeley for the next three decades to be played at the Berkeley Tennis Club. It would spend almost all of the next six decades alternating between San Francisco and Berkeley before settling in at home at San Jose. The HP Pavilion is where the tournament has been played since 1994, where it's been played indoors.

Next year will be the final year the tournament is played in San Jose. Will the ATP find a way to get a new tournament to the Bay Area, or will the tennis fans in the region just have to wait their turn?
