On Sunday, the 2012 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series will continue, with the STP 400 at Kansas Speedway. Bay Area native A.J. Allmendinger won his second-ever career pole position during qualifying and will be in prime position for a strong finish on the 1.5-mile track.
Allmendinger and fellow Bay Area native Jeff Gordon will be looking to rack up some significant points and make a climb up the Sprint Cup standings. Allmendinger in particular is poised to do just that. Gordon did not fare nearly as well during qualifying, as he will be No. 20 in the starting lineup.
The green flag will drop on Sunday at 10:16 a.m. ET, so get to your television early if you want to catch this one. The race will be televised on FOX.
