On Sunday, NASCAR will come to Martinsville Speedway in Virginia for the Goody's Fast Relief 500. The 500-lap short-track race will be the second in two weeks, but the track -- which clocks in at just over half a mile -- is the shortest in all of NASCAR.
Jeff Gordon will be looking to climb above his current positioning as No. 25 in the Sprint Cup standings. He is in a great spot to gain some ground, as he will be ninth in the starting lineup on Sunday.
Fellow Bay Area native AJ Allmendinger did not fare nearly so well in the time trials, as he sits in the 27th position in the starting lineup. Allmendinger is currently right behind Gordon in the Sprint Cup standings.
The race will be televised nationally on FOX and the green flag will be waved at 10:14 p.m. PT.
