NASCAR At Fontana 2012 Results: A.J. Allmendinger Finishes 15th, Tony Stewart Wins Shortened Race

The 2012 Sprint Cup Series continued on Sunday. The fifth race of the season was held in Fontana at the Auto Club Speedway, the only Sprint Cup race that will be held in Southern California this year. The rains also came to Fontana on Sunday, eventually shortening the race for the first time in the history of the speedway.

The Auto Club 400 was officially called on Lap 129 of 200, with Tony Stewart being awarded the win due to his lead at the time of the decision. Stewart has juked toward pit road when the initial caution came out on Lap 124 but stayed out with the pace car. The decision netted him his second win of the year.

Bay Area native A.J. Allmendinger finished in 15th place, while Jeff Gordon finished 26th. Gordon and Allmendinger are now 25th and 26th in the overall Sprint Cup standings, respectively. Greg Biffle finished in sixth place and remains the overall leader.
