Saint Mary's Stephen Holt Will Play In NCAA Tournament

After injury left his status is doubt, Saint Mary's guard Stephen Holt will suit up for the NCAA Tournament for the Gaels, starting with their matchup with the Purdue Boilermakers out in Omaha, Nebraska on Friday.

The Sophomore guard out of Portland has missed the last five games due to a knee injury he suffered in the first half against Loyola Marymount back on February 15. Holt was confident after Tueaday practice that he can return to a full enough capacity to be a productive member out on the court:

"There are no concerns up to this point," Holt said, "because I've really gone hard in practice the whole, entire week mainly just trying to test it, so I know in the game that I'll be prepared."

Head coach Randy Bennett noted that Holt will come off the bench and play as many minutes as his injury will allow, but that he'll have to get trough the mental aspect of knee injures as well:

"You have to get through that," Bennett said. "You're a little hesitant about getting hit, but he's been hit and he's been bumped and knocked to the ground."

Holt has averaged 10.4 points and 4.7 rebounds a game this season for the Gaels. He will wear a brace for this game.
