USF Dons vs. Santa Clara Broncos: ESPNU Hosts Bay Area Rivalry Matchup

The San Francisco Dons welcome the Santa Clara Broncos to War Memorial Gym 8:00pm Thursday evening in the return match of their Bay Area rivalry. The Dons won the first contest 90-77 thanks to double digit points from four of their five starters. Leading scorer Angelo Caloiaro led the way with 20 points, five assists and three rebounds in the victory. This rematch will be broadcast on ESPNU.

Although Santa Clara lost the first contest, the game marked the beginning of freshman Denzel Johnson's emergence as a scoring force. In their second game without leading scorer Kevin Foster, the Broncos found a new spark plug in the freshman guard. Johnson scored 26 points in his most extensive playing time up to that point. He has since followed that up with two double digit scoring efforts in the last three games.

The Dons will look to leading scorer Angelo Caloiaro to lead them past their regional rival. Caloiaro ranks No. 21 on USF's all-time scoring list and is 21 points back of Joel De Bortoli for No. 20. Junior Michael Williams has climbed to No. 39 on the all-time scoring list and is 16 points back of K.C. Jones.
