Daytona 500 2012: A.J. Allmendinger Heads To Garage After Pit Row Accident [VIDEO]

The 2012 Daytona 500 is off to an ugly start with the Jimmie Johnson accident on lap two highlighting (or low-lighting as the case may be) the race thus far. Following that accident Ryan Newman blew a tire and spun out a few laps later. Newman went into pit row to change his tire, and upon beginning to exit he created problems for Los Gatos-native A.J. Allmendinger.

As Newman went to leave pit row, he had some additional tire problems and had to hit the brakes. Allmendinger was looking to exit pit row at the same time and rear-ended Newman. He suffered fairly significant damage which sent him to the garage to get his care fixed up. According to a PR person on Allmendinger's twitter account, the accident knocked the radiator out. He has a chance to return if they can get his car cleaned up, but he joins a host of other drivers losing significant laps on the race. At this rate, last car standing might be the winner!
