The latest college basketball rankings are being released and as expected, the Saint Mary's Gaels slipped following an 0-2 week. The Gaels lost a home game to Loyola Marymount and a road game to Murray State, dropping in the Coaches Poll from No. 16 to No. 23 and dropping out of the AP Poll entirely. The Gaels have now lost three of their last four as they are stumbling to close the season. They face San Francisco to close the season before heading to Las Vegas for the WCC tournament.
The California Golden Bears find themselves with some significant positive momentum having won five straight. They swept their home series against Oregon and Oregon State following a sweep of the LA road trip and now find themselves ranked third highest in the "Others receiving votes" category. They wrap up their regular season with a three-game road trip to Utah, Colorado and Stanford. A sweep would get them to 25 wins and lock up an at-large bid if they stumble in the Pac-12 tournament. Cal will be looking to grab at least two wins on the road trip to boost their postseason chances.
