Daytona 500 Qualifying 2012: Carl Edwards Wins Pole Position, Jeff Gordon Finished Sixth

Carl Edwards has gotten off to a great start of his 2012 Spring Cup campaign, earning himself the pole position at Daytona 500 qualifying on Sunday, setting himself up nicely on NASCAR's biggest stage.

Edwards worked his #99 Ford the top speed of 194.738 mph and best lap time of 46.22 seconds to take the Pole, while Greg Biffle will join him in the fron row in the No. 2 position, running a 46.37 second lap time at 194.087 mph in his # 16 Ford.

As for the Bay Area contingency, Jeff Gordon and his #24 Chevrolet finished in sixth position after running a 46.44 second lap time at 193.803 mph, while A.J. Allmendinger finished 18th after running a 46.6 second lap time in his # 22 Ford.
