The Navy Midshipmen and Arizona St. Sun Devils arrive in the Bay Area this bowl season for the Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl in a game featuring two teams aiming to end their season on a high note.
Both teams enjoyed successful, bounce back-type seasons and the two will try to make one last statement in their first-ever meeting. Arizona State ended its 2012 regular season with a win over the rival Arizona Wildcats on the road, giving the Sun Devils a winning, 5-4, record in the Pac-12 and ending their regular season on a two-game winning streak.
Navy, a FBS independent school, ended its season on a two-game winning streak of its own, including a victory in the famed Army-Navy showdown the weekend after most football teams' seasons had come to a close.
Navy has featured an array of performers all season, as only running back Gee Gee Greene accounted for more than 1,000 yards from scrimmage for the 8-4 Midshipmen. Quarterback Keenan Reynolds was efficient, however, passing for eight touchdowns to just one interception.
Arizona State features the Pac-12's Defensive Player of the Year in defensive end Will Sutton as well as quarterback Taylor Kelly, who passed for 25 touchdowns in 2012.
