Playing in cold and rainy conditions, the San Francisco 49ers have moved out to a 7-0 lead over Tom Brady and the New England Patriots. In what could be a potential Super Bowl preview, San Francisco's defense has been superb thus far against what many consider the NFL's best offensive attack.
The Niners got on the scoreboard early in the first quarter. Collin Kaepernick connected on a 24-yard strike with Randy Moss on the team's first drive, giving the 49ers a 7-0 lead. David Akers had a chance to extend the lead to 10 points, but he missed yet another field goal.
Brady has completed five of his nine pass attempts for 39 yards while tossing one interception. The Patriots offense has been unable to sustain any drives against the stout 49er defense. Stevan Ridley has carried the ball five times for nine yards.
The second half from Foxboro is about to get underway. You can catch the action on NBC.
