The Denver Broncos held their ground in the AFC West standings in Week 9, maintaining a one-game lead over the San Diego Chargers.
The Broncos won a 31-23 game Sunday afternoon over the Cincinnati Bengals. Peyton Manning led the Broncos to the 48th comeback victory of his career, setting a new NFL record. With the win, Denver moved to 5-3 on the season. Denver has now won three straight games and will take that streak into a road game Sunday against the Carolina Panthers.
San Diego coasted in a Thursday game against AFC West opponent Kansas City. The Chargers held a 7-6 lead at the end of three quarters, but pulled away to a 31-13 victory. San Diego sits in second place in the division at 4-4, and plays at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday.
Meanwhile, the Kansas City Chiefs have all but bottomed out at 1-7. The Chiefs play Monday night on the road against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Between the Chargers and Chiefs in the standings are the Oakland Raiders, who are in third place at 3-5. The Raiders dropped a 42-32 decision Sunday against the Buccaneers, and will play this Sunday on the road against the Baltimore Ravens.
