The Sacramento Kings held tough against the Brooklyn Nets on Sunday night, but a poor defensive showing in the fourth quarter halted any chance they had of winning. Sacramento fell by a score of 99-90, and now the team has a 2-8 record to begin the 2012 season.
DeMarcus Cousins was one of the lone bright spots for the Kings. The young big man went for 29 points, seven rebounds and three assists. Tyreke Evans chipped in 21 points on 8-for-14 shooting and grabbed seven rebounds. Marcus Thornton did not have a strong shooting game and finished with just 12 points on 13 shots.
Andray Blatche had his way around the basket, scoring 22 points off then bench against a solid Kings frontline. Deron Williams recorded a double-double with 14 points and 10 assists, while Brook Lopez added 13 points. Joe Johnson did not have his strongest performance on Sunday, scoring just 10 points on an ugly 1-for-10 shooting night.
Sacramento will look to end their five-game losing streak when they take on the L.A. Lakers on Wednesday night.
