No. 15 Oregon State is not happy. After going 6-0 to start the season, the Beavers have lost two of their last three games. Their most recent loss was to the giant-killing Stanford Cardinal in a very close 23-27 game. The Beavers have decided to take their aggression out on the California Bears by scoring five touchdowns to Cal's one. At the half, Oregon State leads 35-7.
The first quarter saw the two teams stay relatively neck-and-neck. Oregon State would strike first with quarterback Sean Mannion throwing a 11-yard pass to Markus Wheaton. Three minutes later, Cal answered with a nine-yard Isi Sofele rush into the endzone, tying the game at seven apiece. Oregon State responded two minutes later with Tyler Anderson running one yard for the TD. To end the first, the Beavers had a 14-7 lead and never looked back in the second.
Oregon State scored three straight touchdowns in the second quarter. The first TD came on a 48-yard Mannion pass to Brandin Cooks. A few minutes later, Connor Hamlett caught a 14-yard toss from Manion, scoring the second touchdown. The third and final touchdown came with 15 seconds remaining in the half. Once again, a touchdown was scored from the air attack. Micah Hattfield was the recipient of a 6-yard touchdown pass.
Of Oregon State's five touchdowns, four have been from passes. In total, the Beavers have 239 passing yards to Cal's 94. If Cal has any hope of coming back, the defense must stop the pass.
