If the San Francisco Giants win Game 3 of the National League Division Series against the Cincinnati Reds, Barry Zito will get the ball in Game 4. CSN Bay Area reports that Zito will follow up Ryan Vogelsong in the rotation.
Zito is coming into the postseason hot, as the Giants have won the last eleven games he's started. Zito finished with a 15-8 record on the 2012 season with a 4.15 ERA. Additionally, Zito has pitched well against Cincinnati, posting a 1.50 ERA in two starts.
Zito receiving the start would probably mean that Tim Lincecum will probably not get a start in this series. Lincecum struggled during the regular season and pitched two innings of relief in Game 2.
The Giants currently trail the Reds, 2-0, in the best-of-five National League Division Series, and a loss in Game 3 will send them home for the season. San Francisco lost, 5-2, in Game 1 with Matt Cain on the mound and 9-0 in Game 2 with Madison Bumgarner. Cain is expected to pitch Game 5 if the Giants can win the next two games.
