The San Jose SaberCats have signed Arena Football League Hall of Fame owner and head coach Darren Arbet to a two-year contract, which will keep him on as head coach through the 2014 season.
Next season will be Arbet's 17th with the SaberCats and 13th as their head coach. A two-time AFL coach of the year, Arbet has the fourth-most regular season wins (126), the fifth-highest winning percentage (.670) among those with at least 50 games coached, and the highest postseason winning percentage (.714) in league history. He was inducted into the AFL Hall of Fame in 2011.
"I'm very happy to get this deal finalized and to continue to prepare ourselves for the 2013 season," Arbet said. "San Jose is my home and I look forward to working hard and bringing another championship to the franchise, city and to the best fans in the AFL."
The SaberCats went 12-6 last season and reached the playoffs for the eighth time under Arbet, who led San Jose to each of its three ArenaBowl championships in 2002, 2004 and 2007.
