The San Francisco Giants will start the National League Divisional series at home when they face the Cincinnati Reds. The first game is scheduled for Saturday night at 6:37 p.m. PT/9:37 p.m. ET and will be televised on TBS.
The Washington Nationals clinched home field advantage today, meaning they will face the winner of the wild-card playoff game between the Atlanta Braves and the St. Louis Cardinals. The Reds end up as the second seed, and the Giants the third.
In 2012, the MLB shoehorned in the second wild card after the schedules were made. They needed to cram in the play-in wild-card games, so they cut out a travel day by making the first round 2-3 instead of 2-2-1. Thus the Giants will start their series at home in AT&T Park and try and take a 2-0 lead in Games 1 and 2 in San Francisco, and then try and hope to win one in Cincinnati.
