San Jose State senior defensive end Travis Johnson was named the WAC's defensive player of the week for the second time this season, according to the San Jose Mercury News.

The Spartans' defensive spark plug had eight tackles, 1.5 sacks and three tackles for loss during SJSU's 12-0 victory over Navy on Saturday. The Sunnyvale native has now recorded at least one tackle for loss in 11 straight games, a new national record. He also has 26.5 career sacks.

Johnson was named the WAC's Defensive Player of the Week after his four-sack performance in the Spartans' week two matchup against UC Davis. Their win over Navy was their first shutout since their 2003 victory over Gambling State by the score of 29-0.

San Jose State now prepares for their meeting with the Utah State Aggies from Spartan Stadium on Saturday, with kickoff set for 1 p.m. PT with coverage on ESPN 3.
