2012 World Series, Giants vs. Tigers: Game 1 lineups

The Giants and Tigers are set to square off at 8 pm ET at AT&T Park.

Managers Bruce Bochy and Jim Leyland have set their lineups for tonight's World Series Game 1.

Giants lineup:

  1. Pagan CF
  2. Scutaro 2B
  3. Sandoval 3B
  4. Posey C
  5. Pence RF
  6. Belt 1B
  7. Blanco LF
  8. Crawford SS
  9. Zito P

Tigers lineup:

  1. Jackson CF
  2. Infante 2B
  3. Cabrera 3B
  4. Fielder 1B
  5. Young LF
  6. Peralta SS
  7. Garcia RF
  8. Avila C
  9. Verlander P
Delmon Young, who will be in left field tonight, has started just 29 games in left field this season, having primarily served as the designated hitter for the Tigers. His last appearance in left field was September 2, and has started all nine playoff games for the Tigers as the DH.

Marco Scutaro hit .500 (14-28) in the NLCS en route to winning the NLCS MVP. Since coming over to the Giants at the deadline, the second baseman has hit .362/.385/.473.

The Tigers hitters in tonight's lineup are a combined 13-for-65 against Barry Zito, good for a .200 batting average.

Bill Shaikin reports on his Twitter (@BillShaikin) that Bochy has said Aubrey Huff and Hector Sanchez are the DH options. There is also the possibility that Bochy could DH Sandoval with Joaquin Arias at 3B.

As for a third catcher, Shaikin reported that it's Pablo Sandoval, with Bochy saying "Hopefully, we don't have to see that." The concern would arise if the Giants pinch-hit for a DH'ing Sanchez, and Buster Posey needed to leave the game with an injury.
