The California Golden Bears picked up a key victory over conference foe Washington State, 31-17, on the road on Saturday.
With the victory, Cal is now 2-2 in the Pac-12 North and moves up to fourth place in the standings.
The Cougars, meanwhile, suffered their fourth conference loss and are still without a Pac-12 win. They remain at the bottom of the North.
In a non-conference contest, Stanford came up short at Notre Dame, 20-13, on Saturday night. The Cardinal move to 4-2 overall and play The Big Game against Pac-12 North rival Cal, which sits right behind Stanford in the standings, next week on the road.
Oregon and Oregon State sit atop the North standings with 3-0 in-conference records.
