Frys.com Open 2012 leaderboard: John Mallinger begins third round five strokes up

The third round of the 2012 Fry's Open is officially underway. John Mallinger entered the day as the overall leader with a score of -14, five strokes better than anyone in the field. Mallinger is about to begin his day at CordeValle Golf Club. Nicolas Colsaerts birdied hole No. 1 to move into into a three-way tie for second place along with Billy Horschel and Jhonattan Vegas. Horschel and Vegas are about to tee off with Mallinger.

Charles Howell III is 2-under par through three holes, moving him into a tie for fourth place at -9. Howell is tied with Nick O'Hern, who is even through two holes. David Mathis was one of Saturday's big movers, shooting -4 to improve his overall mark to -8 for the tournament. He is tied with seven others for seventh place.

Vijay Singh entered the day at -6 and is 1-under par through five holes. Ernie Els, who has a popular pick to win the tournament by some experts this week, continued to struggle on Saturday and is in a tie for 45th place at -3 overall.
