Santa Clara Vs. Gonzaga Final Score: Broncos Struggle In Second Half En Route To Big Loss

The Santa Clara Broncos fell to 0-2 in West Coast Conference play on Saturday as they were beaten handily 82-60 by the Gonzaga Bulldogs. The Broncos fell to 8-7 overall, while the Bulldogs improved to 3-0 in WCC play and 13-2 overall. Santa Clara got double digit scoring from Raymond Cowells III (13) and Brandon Clark (12), but otherwise struggled to get the scoring going in the second half.

The Broncos jumped out to an early 10-0 lead and gave Gonzaga everything they could handle throughout the first half. Santa Clara went into halftime trailing 28-26 and seemed ready to make a run early in the second half, trailing by only one with just under 18 minutes to go. However, Gonzaga quickly went on a 16-0 run in just over four minutes to effectively put this game away.

The Bulldogs were led by Sam Dower (17 points) and got double digit points from three other players. Gonzaga won the battle on the boards (30 to 22) and outshot the Broncos in both field goal percentage and three point percentage.
