Saint Mary's Vs. Santa Clara Final Score: Gaels Pick Up 93-77 Win, Remain Undefeated In WCC

The No. 23 St. Mary's Gaels visited the Santa Clara Broncos on Saturday night in hopes of remaining undefeated in WCC play. The Broncos, meanwhile were looking for their very first win within the conference. After a hot start to their season, Santa Clara has been on a prolonged slide since just before the season's WCC play began.

Saint Mary's appeared to be in trouble early, as they trailed for a large portion of the first half, but battled back to enter halftime down by just one point on a score of 47-46. After the break, however, it was all Gaels. They scored 47 more points in the second half to waltz to a comfortable 93-77 win and improve to 8-0 in conference play, while the Broncos fell to 0-5, with an overall record of 8-10.

Matthew Dellavedova of Saint Mary's led all scorers with 26 points. Gaels forward Brad Waldow recorded a double-double with 14 points and 17 rebounds. On the Broncos end of things, forward Niyi Harrison had another strong game, leading Santa Clara scorers with 23 points and eight rebounds. Guard Kevin Foster chipped in with 22 points of his own.

Santa Clara will play their next game on Monday, January 23 as they host the Loyola Marymount Lions. The Gaels also have Loyola Maymount as their next opponents. They will visit the Lions on Thursday, January 26.
