USF Dons Vs. Gonzaga: Angelo Caloiaro Not Quite Enough For Upset

The San Francisco Dons came up short in their upset bid in Spokane as they lost 74-63 to the Gonzaga Bulldogs. The Dons were even with Gonzaga with 2:47 to go, but a 10-1 run gave the Bulldogs a lead they would build on and never surrender. The loss drops USF to 2-5 in conference play and 12-9 overall. Gonzaga improves to 5-1 in WCC play and 15-3 overall. The Bulldogs remain a game and a half back of Saint Mary's for first place.

USF was led by Angelo Caloiaro who scored a team high 14 points while hauling in nine rebounds. Unfortunately for the Dons, Caloiaro was the only one to score in double digits. The lack of help cost USF as they simply could not keep up with the consistent scoring from Gonzaga. The Bulldogs received double digit scoring from four players, while also holding the edge in rebounds, assists and steals.

The Dons travel to Portland on Saturday looking to improve to get their third conference win. Gonzaga hosts San Diego looking to hold serve behind Saint Mary's.
